Manzano (Spanish for "apple") produces short, chubby fruit with a distinct apple and strawberry note when fully ripe. The flesh is firmer than Cavendish and holds up well in cooking. It is a very popular variety in Latin America and is gaining a following among home growers who want unique banana flavors.
